Eufaula Advances Economic Development Efforts and Prepares for New Manufacturing Investment

Eufaula continues to pursue steady economic development while preparing for new industrial activity and refining its long-range growth plans. Recent steps include active business recruitment, progress on a comprehensive plan, and the arrival of a new aluminum manufacturer.

New Aluminum Manufacturer Purchases Industrial Site

South Korean aluminum manufacturer Almec has purchased a more than 300,000-square-foot vacant industrial building in Eufaula. The company plans to renovate the facility and begin production of aluminum materials and automotive components, with a focus on electric-vehicle related products. Production is targeted to start in September 2027.

City leaders have welcomed the investment, noting that the project is expected to begin with approximately 50 jobs and expand as operations grow. Officials cite the community’s available workforce, transportation access, and local support as key factors in the company’s decision.

Economic Development and Retail Recruitment Active

The City of Eufaula continues to work with Retail Attractions on business recruitment and market analysis. A recent presentation to City Council outlined ongoing efforts to attract retail, commercial, and other investment opportunities. The firm has also prepared a community market profile covering demographics, consumer spending, and retail gaps to guide recruitment strategy.

Tourism and lake-related economic activity remain important pillars for the community, with Lake Eufaula serving as a major draw for visitors and second-home owners.

Comprehensive Plan and Infrastructure Planning

Eufaula is developing its first comprehensive plan, a long-range policy document intended to guide growth through 2050. Public feedback sessions and advisory committee work have focused on housing, infrastructure, economic development, transportation, and placemaking opportunities along the lakefront and in downtown.

City staff are also advancing planning for water treatment plant rehabilitation and broader road improvement needs identified through a recent pavement assessment. A new fire station remodel is moving forward with requests for proposals for management and construction of the interior build-out of an existing 9,600-square-foot building.

Positioning for Measured Growth

Eufaula’s combination of lake tourism, available industrial space, and active recruitment efforts positions the community to capture new investment while protecting the quality of life that residents and visitors value. The Almec project represents a concrete step toward diversifying the local employment base, while the comprehensive plan and infrastructure work aim to ensure that future growth is orderly and sustainable.

Residents can expect continued activity related to the industrial site renovation and ongoing public discussions around the comprehensive plan in the months ahead. City leaders describe the current period as one of practical preparation—pairing near-term job creation with longer-term planning tools.
